A Tale of Two Women
by Rev. Eric Folkerth
Friends:
I’ve received a lot of positive comments on Sunday’s Sermon, “A Tale of Two Women.”
Rather than write a long piece to you today, recounting some of those points, I’m going to merely point you to the video. The sermon is obviously striking a chord, in that it’s been viewed more than 1,300 times on Facebook.
Click the photo below and please do feel free to share it with others.
Being a “Pro Choice Christian” has never for one day meant being a “Pro Abortion Christian.” It is possible to personally be opposed to abortion in your life and support it as the legal option for women.
I believe Jesus is the one who supports each of us in what we need as human beings. I believe Jesus calls us to listen to Women and the complicated choices they face in life. I intend to continue to do this in my walk of faith and I invite you all to consider the same.
We live in a dark time, when rights are being taken away and where *more* rights are potentially at risk. Jesus “sets his face to go to Jerusalem” in this week’s scripture. Despite the cost, he decides to go there.
I can commit to you, as I do at the end of the sermon, that I will as your pastor, and we will as the Church, continue to support the rights of Women, the LGBTQ community, People of Color, and anyone who lives in growing fear in this dark time.
We can do no other but to follow the Christ who, in great resolve, “sets his face to go to Jerusalem.”
Cling to your faith in this challenging time, friends.
Grace and Peace,
Eric Folkerth
