Christmas Eve at KPUMC

Christmas Eve worship services are perhaps my favorite worship of the entire year. That may sound a little strange, since most observers consider Easter to be the highest and most important date in the Christian calendar.

But, as you’ve heard me say in sermons and writings this Advent season, I am a “Christmas Christian.”

It was through the powerful story of God’s incarnation that Jesus’ story first made sense to me. The idea that God comes to earth as an ordinary human being. The idea that, in some sense, God is reminding us that this happens all the time, all around us.

The Christmas story reminds us that there is no person, no place, no time…beyond God’s hope, peace, joy and love.

God is present in the lives of those who live in Kessler Park’s most expensive homes.
God is present in the lives of those who live under the I-30 bridge.
God is present in people of all races, genders, cultures, and sexual orientations.
God is present in those with all social views and political opinions.

Christmas reminds us that God has not abandoned this world. God was saving the world through Jesus from the very moment of his coming. And not even his death at the hands of the Powers That Be could stop it.

So, I hope you will be with us, not only on the 4th Sunday of Advent, but also for our Christmas Eve services. Very soon, we will be sending out an invitation video, via social media, so that you might invite friends and loved ones to join us Christmas Eve.

Each of our services (5:30, 7, and 11 pm) are distinct and powerful in their own right. And the *best* way for folks to hear about what’s happening at Kessler Park on Christmas Eve is for you to tell them.

So, invite a friend. Bring your family.

Join us for these truly holy and sacred times of worship this coming week.

May God grant you all HOPE, PEACE, JOY AND LOVE this Christmas.

Eric
